DR. IAN MEREDITH

Former Global Chief Medical Officer, Boston Scientific

Vice Chancellor’s Professorial Fellow at Monash University

Dr. Ian Meredith is a globally-recognised interventional cardiologist, professor of medicine, and executive leader in the global medtech industry.

Ian is currently a Vice Chancellor’s Professorial Fellow at Monash University and a Non-executive director serving on the boards of both private and public companies in Australia and internationally.

 

He recently retired as the Executive Vice President and Global Chief Medical Officer at Boston Scientific Corporation in Massachusetts USA – a global Fortune 100 company – where he led clinical innovation and medical affairs, overseeing 17,000 medical devices, impacting 33 million patients in 130 countries.

 

Ian served as Professor and Director of MonashHeart for 12 years, practicing as an interventional cardiologist for 25 years. In 2003 he conceived and led the development of the Victorian Heart Hospital, Australia’s first advanced heart hospital which opened recently.

Over 30 years, he has merged patient care, clinical research, and life science technology to create transformative healthcare solutions.

FLORENCE HUDSON

Executive Director of the Northeast Big Data Innovation Hub at Columbia University

Florence Hudson is executive director of the Northeast Big Data Innovation Hub at Columbia University, and founder and CEO of FDHint, LLC, a global advanced technology and diversity and inclusion consulting firm. She is a former IBM vice president and chief technology officer, Internet2 senior vice president and chief innovation officer, special advisor for the NSF Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, and aerospace engineer at Grumman and NASA. She chairs the global IEEE/UL P2933 working group on Clinical IoT Data and Device Interoperability  with TIPPSS – Trust, Identity, Privacy, Protection, Safety and Security, and has published books on TIPPSS.  She serves on boards for Princeton University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Stony Brook University, Blockchain in Healthcare Today, and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. She has a B.S.E. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University, and executive business education from Harvard and Columbia universities.

DOV SHAMIR

Vice President, Startup Banking, JP Morgan

Dov is a Vice President in Startup Banking at J.P. Morgan with 10+ years of business development experience advising founders and venture-backed companies across healthcare, biotechnology, and the broader startup ecosystem. Previously, he founded and led Elementa Labs at the Mount Sinai Health System, a venture support platform focused on innovation, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency, where he helped scale ventures including AVO, Curio Digital Therapeutics, Empo Health, JelikaLite, Nest Genomics, OBELAB, and Vivo Surgical.

His background spans therapeutic development, engineering, consulting, and venture strategy, including building his own startups and technologies. Dov holds a PhD in Neuroscience and Physiology from NYU’s Grossman School of Medicine and a BA in Economics from Yeshiva University, with additional finance training at NYU Stern.

DAVID NEUSTAEDTER, PHD

Venture Partner, Deerfield

Former Vice President, Medtronic Ventures

David Neustaedter, Ph.D., is a Venture Partner on the Medical Technologies team and joined the Firm in 2022. Prior to Deerfield, Dr. Neustaedter spent seven years as a Vice President, at Medtronic Ventures and, before Medtronic’s merger with Covidien, spent a further 7 years with Covidien including five years as a Vice President of Venture Capital. He has also held positions at Stryker Development, Leerink Swann/MEDACorp Strategy Consulting, Fletcher Spaght, and Braun Consulting. Dr. Neustaedter holds a B.Sc. in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology from University of Calgary, an M.B.A  from Yale University, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from University of British Columbia.

CAROLINE BOROWSKI

Vice President, Healthcare Investment Banking, J.P. Morgan

Caroline Borowski is a Vice President in the Healthcare Investment Banking group at J.P. Morgan focused on the Medical Devices sector. Caroline joined the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Investment Banking team in 2018 and has 7 years of experience in healthcare investment banking. Her experience includes corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions advisory as well as equity and debt financings. Caroline is originally from Chicago and is currently based in New York. She graduated from Northwestern University with a M.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering.

JULIE WOLF, PHD

Partner, 2048 Ventures

Julie Wolf is a Partner at 2048 Ventures, where she leads biotech and healthcare verticals. She is an investor in more than 50 startups, and is interested in platform technologies and founders transforming human health.

Before 2048 ventures, Julie was Chief Science Officer and a member of the founding investment team at SOSV’s IndieBio New York. Prior to entering her investment career she worked in scientific research, communications, and biotech entrepreneurship. She holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology from the University of Minnesota and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

JOSH SEIDENFELD

Partner, DLA Piper

Josh Seidenfeld represents technology, life sciences and healthcare companies throughout the corporate lifecycle – from seed stage through private financings, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and initial public offerings (IPOs). He regularly advises on general corporate matters, securities compliance, and the structuring and implications of strategic transactions.

In the past year, Josh has led transactions totaling billions of dollars on a variety of matters ranging from venture financings to mergers and public offerings.

 

He counsels businesses across the biotechnology, therapeutics, pharmaceutical, climate technology and energy, digital health, medical technology, and software sectors, including emergent AI.

DR. MICHAEL SALGALLER

Director Technology Analysis and Marketing Unit (TAMU), NCI/NIH

Dr. Michael Salgaller leads the Technology Analysis and Marketing Unit (TAMU) within the National Institute’s of Health (NIH’s) NCI Technology Transfer Center, where he leverages over 20 years of business, scientific, and investment experience in various life science sectors to support technology development and commercialization. The TAMU serves in a business development role to foster licensing and collaborative activity between buy-side stakeholders and the NCI (as well as National Institutes of Heath in general). It also provides education and assistance to tech transfer staff and investigators seeking to make a more compelling business case to potential licensees and collaborators. Previously, Dr. Salgaller was a Vice President at The Conafay Group, a healthcare-focused government affairs firm, where he led alliance development activities centered on civilian health. He served as President of Biologics Consulting Group, a boutique firm providing professional services focused on regulatory affairs. Salgaller spent several years on the investment team of an early-stage venture capital firm dedicated to the life sciences. He began his buy-side career as Vice President of R&D for Northwest Biotherapeutics, where he led the development of cancer cell therapies that achieved clinical benefit and resulting in an IPO. He began his career as a Senior Scientist with Dr. Steve Rosenberg at the NCI. He has written over 80 scientific/business articles and book chapters. He sits on the Editorial Board of Med Nous, a UK-based journal on the buiness of science. He is the author of "Biotechnology Entrepreneurship," and teaches an entrepreneurship class at the NIH's graduate school - the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences. Dr. Salgaller received his Ph.D. in Pathology from The Ohio State University.
